RAZ Volunteers Needed

RAZ Volunteers needed! RAZ is Lockwood’s Before-School, computer based reading program, that helps children with their reading and comprehension. The program is open to students, who have been referred to the program by their teacher and maybe needing a little extra help. RAZ will run from 8:45-9:15 Tuesday thru Thursday. If we get enough volunteers, we will run the program Monday thru Friday. Being a volunteer is very easy! All you have to do is listen to a child read, help them with any words they may struggle with and give lots of encouragement. All volunteers will have a quick training before the program starts in October. If you are interested, please contact Christine Roehnelt at tennischristine@hotmail.com. Thank you!

Picture Day – Volunteers needed

Picture Day is Tuesday September 26, we need volunteers!! Shifts are 2 hours in length from 9-11am, 11-1pm and 1pm- end of day or if you can do more that is great too! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Shannon Holm at shannonmaupin@hotmail.com.

Cut and Chat Chair Needed – New Program at Lockwood

The PTA is looking to adopt a program already running at Kemore Elementary called Cut and Chat. This would be a group of parents that get together every Tuesday at 12:30p.m. in the Lockwood conference room to help with cutting, collating, and other tasks for the Lockwood staff. This program allows parents with younger children, who wouldn’t normally be able to help in a classroom, to bring their children and pitch in. The PTA will provide toys and snacks for the kids, while the parents help with the tasks given to them by the staff. We are looking for a parent who would be interested in overseeing the program. You would organize the volunteers, and be in charge of any communication with volunteers and the school. If you are interested in overseeing the group or just being informed about when the group starts, please email: volunteer@lockwoodpta.org

Health Screening Volunteers Needed – Sign up Sheet

Nurse Sue Derosier needs our help! Thursday October 5th is Health Screening Day. This is the day when all the students have their vision and hearing checked. This is an important day that is lots of fun but requires lots of volunteers as well. No experience is needed. If you can help out in the morning, afternoon or all day, or even if you have questions, please contact Lisa Gustin zzlaugh2day@gmail.com.

Boxtops Drive

Our semi-annual Boxtops drive is coming up! Stay tuned for the details of this year’s October event, but know that each and every box top counts $0.10 towards our school. Did you know that last fall we raised $760.40 for Lockwood?! They really add up! So, please, clip and save and get ready to send them in soon!

Thank you – Ice Cream Social
